Our Team
Welcome to the Ingleside Shire Horse Stud web page. Our stud is run by a family team, Ineke, Byron, Helen and Korrie. We all love our horses and are passionate about the great Shire Horse. We want to see this rare breed grow in numbers in Australia and we seek to promote these wonderful big horses by breeding and showing our horses to the highest standard we can.
Our Aim
We aim to breed the modern Shire, a versatile riding, harness and pleasure horse, with hocks close behind, which has good movement, foot, feather and joints. Our desire is to see other people discover the enjoyment of owning a Shire.

Our Foundation Mare
We saw our first Shire in 1990 and immediately fell in love with them. We set about looking for one to buy, and in 1991 we were lucky enough to purchase the lovely imported mare Wishful Pearl, who was also in foal. Pearl was all quality, and has gone on to become one of the great ancestors of successful show horses in Australia.

Our Show Record
We are proud of our stud's show record, and of the number of horses we have successfully competed with, both blacks and bays, almost all with our own prefix. Ingleside Horses have won the Champion Shire Class at Sydney Royal Easter Show eight times since 1998 under a variety of UK, US and Australian judges. Ingleside Symphony was champion in 2007 and again this year (the 2008 classes were cancelled due to EI). All of these champions are descended from Wishful Pearl.

Oakridge Speculator - Our Imported Stallion
Speculator was born in 2003 in England, the home country of the Shire Horse. We brought him to Australia when he was two years old. He is a non-fading jet black with 4 white socks. We had been looking for a well bred, strong stallion, with great movement and quality, as well as a good temperament. We found it all in Speculator! Since coming to Australia, he has had success at Sydney Royal in led, riding and harness classes, and his progeny are now also performing very well.

Our horses are bred and raised between our two properties, in Thirlmere, just outside Sydney and near Bredbo, in the foothills of the NSW Snowy Mountains.
