HEAVY HORSE RIDING AND DRIVING CLINICS

When: Sunday 15 January 2012
  9.00am start
Where: Sydney Polocrosse and County of Cumberland Campdraft Grounds
  Camden (approx. 1 hour south-west of Sydney)

There are two attendance options:

  1. Come with your horse and receive individual instruction throughout the day: $100 for the day; or
  2. Come without a horse, watch the sessions, receive training notes and ask questions etc. You can move between the sessions of your choice throughout the day: $50 for the day

Members will have PRIORITY BOOKING UNTIL 31 OCTOBER after which bookings will open to non-members. Book early to avoid disappointment.


Heavy Horse Riding Clinic

Australia’s first ever riding training day specifically for heavy horses!

All heavy horse breeds are invited to participate

Professional instructors across a range of disciplines and topics including:

Wayne Biffin

Former Head of the NSW Mounted Police

Wayne will be covering handling on the ground and teaching horses to cope with unusual and stressful situations

Michelle Kelly

Shelley is a national showjumping rider, was on the National Showjumping Squad for Sydney 2000 and is a winner of the Australian Grand Prix.

Shelley will be providing instruction on how to start your horse over jumps, correct jumping technique for the horse and rider and building confidence to jump as a team.

Suzy Cogar

Suzy is an accredited EFA Level 1 NCAS coach and has competed with placings and wins at FEI level Dressage as well as Saddle classes at Royal Shows.

Suzy’s topics will include riding the young horse, conformation linked to movement and how dressage basics can improve both horse and rider performance.


Heavy Horse Driving Clinic

Harness driving for show and pleasure

BYO horse and wheeled vehicle (ONLY 6 SPOTS AVAILABLE)

Presented by Ross Carbery

Ross has competed successfully in harness for more than 25 years ranging from singles through to 6 in hand teams. He breeds, breaks and trains his own horses.

Ross will cover the theory of driving, improving contact and control and setting and achieving training goals

Ground Driving as a base and for competition

Presented by Mark Peel (TBC)

Mark is experienced in driving both light and heavy horses, has a strong background in driving, breaking and training heavy horses, and is currently competing in combined driving with a 4 in hand team.

Mark, along with some very experienced helpers, will be working on all aspects of driving ‘on the ground’, from getting your gear fitted correctly right through to more advanced techniques including increasing contact and control and getting you and your horse’s technique right before moving into shafts or agricultural vehicles.
